This tie was owned by my father-in-law, Lloyd P.Kenyon, former legion member in Toronto who passed away recently. Lloyd was at R.M.C. Kingston when he abruptly left and went to war. With the Engineers, he landed at Normandy  his first sight was his Commanding Officer being killed.  He therefore was responsible for 60 men who he led into France and on wards, building bridges for troops to advance.  He was 22 years old!  He received promotions and was mentioned in dispatches, returning to Canada as a Major. He led Sunnybrook Veterans Wing aged  90.   A year before he was honored by  re the French Government at a ceremony in which he received their highest honour, the Croix de Guerre.  Lloyd Kenyon was a man of integrity and honour and his family deeply proud of this humble man.

I know it’s only a tie but it’s also a symbol worthy of respect.
Thank you
for your attention.

Annual appeal for help from all Veterans of Branch 551 Waterdown, Royal Canadian Legion.

Each year it seems to come on faster and we will soon be starting our Poppy Campaign.  This year it will start on Friday, 27 October and end on 10 November.
This funds raised help our Veterans, Youth programs, Remembrance and many other worthwhile ventures to support the Royal Canadian Legion in Waterdown.  The Poppy signup sheet will be posted at the beginning of October.
Please consider signing up for some shift to support our Poppy Campaign.  The members of our community always like to meet and speak with our Veterans at this time of the year when we pause to remember and thank those who have served our Country.
